Silver Sixpence sits in the rural parish of St. Saviours in Guernsey, currently consisting of an old manor farmhouse and adjoined former barn. SOUP were approached by the clients to improve and extend the ground floor of the property, which currently does not successfully support the clients modern lifestyle or offer a memorable or functioning relationship with the property’s tranquil settings.
SOUP designed a modern extension inspired by early twentieth century pavilions. The space helps to rationalise the original ground floor layout whilst also providing an indistinct boundary between internal and external spaces.
