The SOUP Process:
Free Initial Consultation
We offer a no-obligation free initial consultation, either on-site or at our office, to discuss your requirements in detail. Please contact us through our contact form, email or by calling either of our studios directly.
If you choose to move forward with our services, we will provide a tailored fee proposal, based on the input you require from ourselves and other consultants.
Our scope of services are flexible and we offer a fixed fee per stage of work, ensuring costs are transparent and the expected deliverables are understood. The fee proposal will typically be structured around the following work stages:
01 Preparation and Brief
Establish project goals, site context, and feasibility.
A measured survey of the site/existing building is typically undertaken at this stage.

Design and Access Statement (explains design intent).
Supporting documents such as:
Heritage statements for Protected/Listed buildings
SOUP will coordinate all information from other consultants such as Landscape Designers, M&E Consultants, Structural/Civil Engineers & Fire Engineers to ensure the planning application process is handled efficiently.
04 Technical Design
Produce further detailed drawings and specifications for Building Control and/or Construction/Tender purposes.
Building regulations submission typically includes:
Drawings: Plans, elevations and sections to scale showing compliance with all relevant Building Regulations.
Supporting documents such as:
Energy assessment calculations.
SOUP will coordinate all information from other consultants such as Landscape Designers, M&E Consultants, Structural/Civil Engineers & Fire Engineers to ensure the building regulations submission is handled efficiently.
Once the building control drawings are completed and approved, they can serve as the foundation for further development into more detailed drawings tailored for tender and/or construction purposes, depending on the chosen procurement method. These additional details may include precise specifications, finishes, and construction methodologies, ensuring that contractors have the necessary information to provide accurate pricing and carry out the work effectively.
The extent and type of detail added will vary based on the project’s complexity and the procurement route, such as traditional, design-and-build, or other approaches, ensuring the documentation aligns with project requirements and contractual agreements.
